I’ve been unemployed or underemployed for a while. I worked as a computer programmer in C++/C# from 2000 to 2009 and again from 2012 to 2014. After my wife left, I drove for Lyft and Uber until I had to sell my car, then delivered pizza for about a year. Last year, I briefly repaired cell phones for ten dollars an hour. Mainly, I’ve noticed how people tend to avoid those who are struggling, even if they were close before. It makes things more awkward.
