Card Reader Recommendations for My First Craft Market

Hello…I’m preparing for my first craft market and need a card reader for transactions. I applied for Zettle, but they didn’t accept my application, so I’m looking into Square. However, I’ve noticed that the magnetic swipe reader won’t work with my Pixel 7 since it doesn’t have a lightning port or audio jack.

I’m attracted to the low price of Square’s reader, but I’m wondering if there’s a workaround. I do have a headphone converter for the charger, but it messes with my service. Alternatively, I have an old iPhone that I could boot up and run on my phone’s hotspot, but it wouldn’t have a SIM card.

Has anyone had experience with using Square or similar readers in this situation? Are there any other card readers you would recommend that would work well for my setup?

As you have explained, Square is a popular choice, but the magnetic swipe reader might not be compatible with your Pixel 7.
You can explore any of the following alternatives:

  • SumUp: SumUp offers a range of card readers that connect via Bluetooth. They are known for their ease of use and competitive transaction fees.
  • Shopify POS: If you are considering expanding to an online store in the future, Shopify’s POS system might be a good investment. It integrates seamlessly with their online platform.
