I’m looking for 2 or 3 small, affordable devices (think iPad size) to keep kids and maybe even adults occupied while others shop. Ideally, something simple to lock down so no one can accidentally rack up charges. It needs to be cheap enough that if it gets ‘forgotten’ or damaged, it’s not a huge loss.
We used to have board games and small toys, but now every kid wants an iPad. Lately, with the holiday rush, parents bring kids along, and it’s chaos when two or three kids fight over one iPad. It’s loud, distracting, and makes it hard for others to shop. I’d love ideas for something we can offer to help keep them entertained!

What about coloring books and crayons? Or maybe stickers?
We’ve tried those. The kids used to draw on everything and stick stickers all over the place. Now, though, they just want screens. We’ve got two kids in the shop right now screaming at each other over one iPad, and the parents don’t even care. It’s about keeping them busy so other customers (and parents) can shop in peace.

Wow… times have changed. What about an arcade machine? My childhood dentist had a two-player tabletop Pac-Man that was a hit. You sat at it and played.

That’s a cool idea! I remember those too. My only concern is finding one cheap enough—most are expensive. I’ll look around. Thanks for the suggestion!
@Keaton
It might be worth spending a bit more since it’s not something people can walk off with. There are more affordable options for arcade cabinets if you shop around.

Good point. Any tips on where to look? I saw a few older ones on FB Marketplace for $500 or so.
Have you heard of Tegu blocks or similar magnetic wooden blocks? They’re great for kids and adults. I used to have some on my coffee table for guests, and they loved them.

Of course, my guests didn’t walk off with them, though.
What about setting up an Xbox or PS4 with a TV in a corner? Add a few chairs, and it’s good to go. Just pick games that work for both kids and adults, like simple multiplayer ones.
