MIDI can't control smart controls when it's in a track stack?

I’m attempting to utilize my MIDI controller to operate the track’s smart controls within a track stack, but it’s not working. Everything appears to be in order when I go through the “learn” procedure of matching my MIDI controller to the smart control, yet my MIDI controller has no effect on the smart controls. However, when the track is not in a track stack, it functions properly.

Does this also occur for other people?

I’m wondering whether there’s a workaround or if smart controls in a track stack are just not developed with this in mind by logic.

Yes, there has been a bug like this for a long time. I’ve reported it to the developers using the official logic feedback website, but I haven’t heard anything yet about a fix.

In Logic, the term “Smart Controls” is a disaster since the controls are anything but smart, and the mapping procedure is incredibly complicated. In my opinion, the best course of action is to ignore them until a later release when the automated system has been totally redesigned.

Does it change depending on whether the stack or a particular track is selected on the midi controller? Which of those is the desired outcome? If the stack is selected, you can adjust the parameters of the instruments therein by setting the macros on the stack.

It seems strange given that, according to logic, in 2002 you could “learn” how to operate a knob, slider, etc. by right-clicking on a parameter and an external midi device. This was before Apple bought them. I’m not sure when this changed because I wasn’t playing the game until the last several years.
