Avoid it by all means. Thumbtack takes a substantial portion of your earnings as well as money from you when you’re not making any.
I also attempted to hire a logo designer using Thumbtack. I went with someone from out of state. The first drafts were satisfactory, but the company’s customer service had much to be desired. I had paid roughly $200 down on a $360 work; it took some time, but Thumbtack management eventually gave me a complete refund.
