I have a workshop and a showroom situated just a few yards off a busy Main Street, surrounded by many direct competitors. Unfortunately, my location isn’t ideal, and I’m looking for a sign that will catch the eye and draw in customers.
I am a goldsmith, crafting everything by hand, unlike my competitors who sell low-quality products but are well-situated. I need to attract customers who appreciate quality and are often surprised by the high standards I offer. Many have mentioned that my shop is not visible at all from the street.
Until I can move to a better location, I need to increase foot traffic to generate enough revenue to facilitate the move.
I’ve attempted three different design tests on Fiverr, but each result was disastrous.
On social media, I have a small but dedicated following of 2,000 people. Despite being in a tourist area, I haven’t been able to reach a large audience yet. Tourists are my primary target.
Do you have any suggestions for a sign design that could be more effective? I was considering featuring one of my handcrafted jewels on the sign. Initially, I thought about including a picture of my workshop, but I worry it might be too cluttered and counterproductive.
Hey there, that’s a tough situation! Being surrounded by competitors with a less-than-ideal storefront can be brutal. But don’t worry, there are definitely ways to make your amazing handcrafted jewelry stand out.
I used to have a similar problem in Cozumel with a shop right off the main street. I ended up standing out on the sidewalk of the main street handing out flyers and showing them where my shop was. When they headed that way and went in, I followed and then serviced them. When they left, I went back out to the main street until I found another potential customer. I tried all sorts of signs, tourists are scared to get off the main street I think.
In your situation, what would work best are customer referrals instead of a sign. Because your customers are mainly people who appreciate the value of art, you can attend seminars where artists display their products and once you sell to a few people, they will refer their friends who are also into art to you
Absolutely, you’re spot on about the importance of a thumbnail image in attracting potential buyers to open a listing. It’s often the first impression they get of the item, so it needs to be clear, eye-catching, and representative of the item’s quality and appeal. Factors like size, condition, color, and designer certainly play a crucial role in attracting interest as well. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of time before the right buyer comes across your listing and recognizes the value in what you’re offering. Being patient while ensuring your listing is optimized can make a big difference in turning interest into sales.
