Hey everyone,We’re just getting started with our framing business in the UK. I handle the hands-on work and construction, while my partner takes care of the admin side.I have tons of photos and short videos from jobs I worked on before, but they were done while I was employed by another company.Would it be okay to use these for advertising, or could that get us into trouble?Thing is, my old employer and us will be direct competitors.
Just a heads-up, this forum is for questions and answers about running a small business. Ask a question, and the community will help! Posts that break the rules might get removed, and repeat violations could lead to a ban.
Most of the time, photos and videos of work done for a company belong to them. Even if there’s no official agreement, your old boss might still cause trouble if they find out. Probably not worth the risk.
Yeah, that could be a legal issue. Safer option is to create your own photos and videos from scratch. For getting customers, social media like Instagram works well. A good website helps too. Once that’s ready, you could try paid ads to reach more people.Networking is huge. Join local business groups, go to events, both online and in person. Building connections will help long term.If you need any advice, let me know. I recently started a support group for entrepreneurs and IT folks to share ideas and help each other out. If you’re interested, just send me a message!
